Historic Resources Commission

The Historic Resources Commission (HRC) is made up of five members, one from each of the five Supervisorial Districts. The Board of Supervisors appoints these commissioners for a period of four years. The current Historic Resource Commissioners are:

  • 1st District: Emily Burton
  • 2nd District: Kevin Newhouse
  • 3rd District: Lucia Orlando
  • 4th District: Barry Pearlman, Chair: pearlman.barry@gmail.com
  • 5th District: Lynda Phillips, Vice Chair

The HRC will hold three regular meetings, with additional special meetings as needed. The HRC reviews proposals to amend the Historic Resources Inventory, applications for changes to the exterior of properties included on the Historic Resources Inventory and fulfills other duties pertaining to Historic Preservation as provided in Chapter 2.58 of the Santa Cruz County Code and the County General Plan. Recordings of prior meetings can be accessed by clicking the link provided below.  Public hearings are currently being held both in person and virtually online. Instructions for participating in the virtual public hearings are available here: Historic Resources Commission Meeting Agendas.
