CSA 07 - Boulder Creek Sanitation

CZU Fire Survivors: Effective August 2020, all property owners connected to the CSA 07 - Boulder Creek sewer system who unfortunately lost their homes during the fire will not be assessed an annual sewer service charge on their property tax bill while no structure exists. Owners must acquire a permit to rebuild their home through the Permit Recovery Center and at that time will be required to complete a sewer lateral video inspection of their private sewer lateral prior to sewer permit issuance (refer to District Code 7.04.375). More information on this process is available on our Sewer Resources page. Under normal circumstances owners must complete any repairs identified during the video inspection prior to sewer permit issuance, however, to streamline the rebuilding process, fire-affected owners within CSA 07 will be allowed to defer the repairs of their sewer laterals. Sewer lateral repairs must be completed prior to final building inspection approval. The annual sewer service charge shall be reinstated after the owner (or contractor) has had their sewer lateral repairs inspected by Sanitation.

This County Service Area (CSA) has its own sewage treatment facility which is maintained by County Sanitation which is responsible for environmental compliance and the collection of sewage for a portion of the community in Boulder Creek. Revenues to operate this package treatment plant are collected yearly from all residents whose homes are connected to the sanitary sewer system. If your home or business is connected to the sewer, the annual sewer service charge is placed on your Santa Cruz County property tax bill as a special levy. Please call (831) 454‐2160 with questions regarding the sewer portion of your bill.
