Sea Level Rise Community Working Group
The Community Working Group (CWG) consists of 17 community members providing highly valuable experience and expertise from across the County representing a diverse set of voices and issue areas working together to help shape a vision for the County’s coastline. Community Working Group members were selected to represent various interests including but not limited to; home/property owners, recreational users, business owners, environmental groups, technical professionals, and historically marginalized communities. Community Working Group members also come from different regions throughout Santa Cruz County to ensure full geographical representation of the County.
The CWG is assisting the project by representing the perspectives and needs of the community and those most impacted by coastal hazards. Feedback from the CWG supports the County in engaging stakeholders and garnering public input from the broader community. In a series of meetings, the CWG is engaging in exercises with the project team of County planners and consultants exploring approaches to the vulnerability assessment and communication of technical information to the community. The CWG is not making policy recommendations. As part of engaging with the community, the CWG is a helpful resource for the project team to more effectively plan and conduct outreach to the broader public. More information on public engagement can be found on the main page.
