A Week Without Driving

Ready for a Challenge that Benefits You and the Planet?

This September, Santa Cruz County is inviting residents to participate in our first-ever Week Without Driving — a week-long challenge to explore alternative ways of getting around. Whether you walk, bike, take public transit, carpool, or try a scooter, this event is about experiencing how small changes in your daily transportation choices can have a big impact on your health, your community, and the environment.

Why Participate?

Driving less has a positive impact on the environment, your personal health, and your wallet. By taking part, you'll contribute to:

  • Reducing Air Pollution: Cleaner air with fewer cars.
  • Lowering Carbon Emissions:  Less driving = fewer emissions.
  • Improving Your Health: Walk, bike, or bus your way to better health.
  • Saving Money: Skip gas and parking meters.
  • Building Community: Connect with others traveling sustainably.

What’s the Challenge?

For one full week, make an effort to try alternative transportation methods. You can:

  • 🚶 Walk or bike to work or the store.
  • 🚌 Take public transit or carpool.
