When a permit is obtained authorizing the demolition of a structure, or when a condition of a building permit requires that an existing structure be demolished, the following shall be verified by inspection:
- All portions of the structure, including the foundation, shall be removed.
- All debris shall be removed from the lot and no debris from the demolished structure shall be visible on nearby property.
- If a septic tank exists on the parcel, the lid shall be removed, the bottom punctured, and the tank filled with sand, earth, concrete or other approved material.
- The land shall be graded to a consistent grade, which provides adequate drainage
- No debris shall be buried.
- No debris shall be burned.
- If connection to a public sewer exists, the building sewer shall be plugged or capped in an approved manner within 5 feet of the property line.
- The lot shall be reseeded and other measures taken as necessary to prevent erosion.
EXCEPTION: The following exceptions to the above are permitted:
- Lumber or other materials to be reused may be neatly stacked on the site when approved in writing by the Building Official.
- The foundation may remain when approved in writing by the Building Official.
- The septic tank may remain in a usable condition when approved in writing by the Building Official.
- Debris may be buried when approved in writing by the Building Official.
- The Building Official may grant other exceptions to the above in writing based upon practical difficulties, as authorized in Chapter 1 of the California Building Code.
