Geologic and Geotechnical (Soils) Report Requirements and Information
Geologic and geotechnical reports are important components of the project design process. These reports provide recommendations that must be incorporated into a qualifying project’s design. It is recommended that geologic and geotechnical aspects of potential projects be evaluated early in the project planning process. Santa Cruz County requires geologic and geotechnical reports, as necessary, for projects in conformance with the County Code and the California Building Code. When required, it is also strongly recommended that the project geologist and geotechnical engineer coordinate their investigations to efficiently assess potential hazards and provide appropriate design recommendations. During project design and after issuance of permits, project geologists and geotechnical (soils) engineers must stay involved in the process to ensure that their recommendations are followed.
